Helen Pashgian made this Elliptical Spheroid with resin, and you can see how light plays across its surface. It’s not about a single act but more like a long, slow dance with the material. There’s a real physicality to this object. The resin is smooth, almost like a frozen drop of water, but it's also solid and heavy. The colour is so subtle, a whisper of blue-green. Notice how the light bends and shifts as it passes through? There’s a line, a sort of horizon, that runs through the middle, dividing the form, creating a sense of depth, of something held within. It’s like looking into another world, a miniature universe captured in a single, perfect form. I’m reminded of the glass sculptures of Larry Bell, both artists share a fascination with light and space. Ultimately, art is about exchange, and Pashgian’s spheroid invites us into a conversation about seeing, feeling, and the boundless possibilities of form.
