Richard Tepe made this photograph, "Wielewaal bij een nest met jongen," capturing a moment in the life of birds and their nest, and it feels like looking at a painting where light and shadow are the only colours he has. There's such a lovely texture in this print, especially in the nest itself, a jumble of twigs and fluff, all held together just so. Then you have the bird, perched confidently, a dark silhouette against the softer background. The details are so sharp; you can almost feel the texture of the feathers. And look at the branches, they weave and intersect, creating all these intricate patterns. The whole composition has this kind of quiet energy, a natural rhythm that reminds me of someone like Alfred Stieglitz. It's not just a photograph, it's a whole world, captured in a single frame, full of questions and wonder.
