Albrecht Behmel made this painting of The Hulk, and just look at those colours! I imagine him, brush in hand, carefully building up this heroic figure from countless little scenes. It’s like the Hulk isn’t just one thing, one solid mass, but a whole world contained within that body. Each patch of color and shape feels like a tiny story, a fleeting moment. There are crowds in there! He’s made up of people. And the way the paint is applied, so flat and graphic, reminds me of comic books. It’s not trying to be realistic, but something more… iconic. I bet Behmel enjoyed making this. I imagine him laughing, and the painting seems like a joke. We are all in the same boat, aren’t we? I like to think that we're all feeding into a larger visual conversation, riffing off each other's ideas across time and space. It’s exciting! I wonder what comes next.
