Editor: This untitled drawing is by John Wells. I see it as a constellation chart, or maybe some kind of abstract bird in flight. What leaps out at you? Curator: Oh, I love that take! For me, it's pure intuition on paper. Wells lived in Cornwall, you know, so those shapes whisper of boats, birds, and maybe even a touch of the mystical Cornish landscape. Editor: Mystical, interesting! So, it's not just random lines? Curator: Random? Never! Even the simplest doodle holds a secret. But think about the energy – the lightness of the lines against that hazy yellow. Does it evoke a feeling in you? Editor: It does feel free, open to interpretation, I guess. Curator: Exactly! And that's the beauty of art, isn't it? We both see different skies in the same picture.
