Landscape 2017

Here's an undated landscape by Chaokun Wang, born in 1992, created with who-knows-what materials. I imagine Wang, perhaps after a long hike, standing by the water's edge, feeling the weight of the camera in hand, the slight breeze, and the sun dipping low in the sky. Wang probably took their time composing the shot. The contrast between the water and the sky is striking, but it's the subtle gradations within the water itself that really grab you. Look how Wang captured the texture of the water, each ripple and wave rendered with such clarity. It's not just a photograph of a landscape; it's a meditation on light, shadow, and the ever-changing nature of the world around us. Photography is a form of embodied expression which embraces ambiguity and uncertainty, allowing for multiple interpretations.
