Rose Freymuth-Frazier's painting presents a view of the world through gentle brushstrokes of rose, yellow, and green. I can imagine Rose getting up early to catch the sunrise. The light must have been changing rapidly, with bands of orange and pink streaking across the sky, and I bet she was trying to get it all down before it disappeared. The paint looks thinned and luminous, like she’s capturing not just a place, but also a feeling. I wonder if she was thinking about other landscape painters, like Turner, whose skies also captured fleeting moments of light. Or maybe she was just lost in the act of painting, letting the colors guide her. Painters are always looking at other painters. We’re all in a conversation, remixing and responding. Ultimately, this painting is about embracing change, about how nothing ever stays the same, and how art can help us see the beauty in that.
