Koloman Moser made this animal motif for a picture book, and it's like a little visual poem. The way he uses color – those pops of red, yellow, and this kind of teal-ish green – feels so playful, almost like he's improvising. Looking closely, you can almost feel the texture, even if it's just a reproduction. The way the colors bleed into each other makes me think about the fluidity of paint, how it can be controlled but also has a life of its own. I'm drawn to that little tail-like extension, how it trails off into a delicate line. It's like a whisper, a fleeting thought. Moser, being part of the Vienna Secession, probably knew Gustav Klimt. There's a similar sense of decoration and abstraction, but Moser has this lightness, this almost childlike innocence. Art is just a conversation, right?
