Curatorial notes

Editor: Here we have Anni Albers' "Design for a Tapestry." It's a watercolor and graphite sketch, and what strikes me immediately is its playful, almost musical rhythm of blues and yellows. What story do these colours tell you? Curator: Ah, Anni! I think she’s whispering to us about the grid, that underlying structure. See how she's both embracing it and breaking it? Like a jazz riff, a familiar tune taking a sudden, joyful detour. What do you make of that tension? Editor: It does feel alive, somehow, pushing against its own boundaries. I guess I just see it as a nice pattern. Curator: Exactly! And the warp and weft of experience, isn't it? Comfort, challenge, surprise. Perhaps that's why Albers, a weaver, resonates so deeply. Editor: So it's more than just a design, it's a feeling. I love that!
