Curatorial notes

Editor: This red chalk drawing of a standing woman, by Prince Hoare, held at the Tate, is strikingly ethereal. What I find particularly interesting is her almost dreamlike quality. What do you make of it? Curator: It's a whisper of a drawing, isn’t it? I imagine Hoare pausing amidst some grander project, a fleeting impression captured in sanguine. Perhaps she's a muse, a memory, or even a character from one of the artist's plays? Do you feel a narrative here? Editor: Not necessarily a specific narrative, but definitely a sense of poised anticipation. It feels like she's about to step into a story. Curator: Precisely! And that’s the magic, isn’t it? We’re invited to imagine her world, to become collaborators in her unfolding tale. Editor: I agree, thank you for this perspective! Curator: My pleasure! Art is a mirror, and we each see a different reflection.
