This print, created by Lutkie & Cranenburg, sings of the 'September heroes' with each figure a symbol of valor, or perhaps, villainy, depending on whose story we heed. Note the repeated motif of the military uniform, a garment heavy with historical and cultural weight. Consider how these uniforms, intended to unify and command, become symbols of division in times of conflict. This reflects a deeper, archetypal struggle between order and chaos. The uniform echoes the classical armor of ancient warriors, reappearing through time. Each adaptation carries a collective memory of past conflicts, shaping the present interpretation. This cyclical progression is what I have come to call the 'social memory', where symbols evolve, gaining new meanings with each historical context they resurface in. This emotional charge engages viewers on a subconscious level, tapping into our innate understanding of conflict and societal change.
