Modest Cuixart made "Le Ciel" using an interesting process of layering and obscuring. The color palette is muted, mostly grays and browns, giving it an ethereal feel, like looking at something through fog. Up close, you can see the texture of the surface. The paint is thin, almost transparent in places, allowing the layers beneath to peek through. There are these delicate lines scratched into the surface, creating a kind of map or constellation around the central dark circle. That circle, like a pupil, draws you in, while the lines feel like possible trajectories. They are like thoughts or feelings radiating out from the center. This circle reminds me of Joan Miró's use of simple shapes and surrealist undertones. Both artists share a sense of playfulness and a desire to explore the subconscious through art. "Le Ciel" isn't trying to give you any answers; it is more about creating a space for contemplation.
