This printed textile was made by Joseph Lubrano, though we don’t know exactly when. What strikes me is the way Lubrano embraced the inherent qualities of the printing process. The floral design, with its yellow and red accents, feels almost like a dance across the fabric. The texture of the textile itself seems smooth, allowing the printed colors to really pop. The way the red ink bleeds slightly into the surrounding fabric gives it a kind of organic, handmade quality. Look closely at the looping red lines connecting the floral motifs - they aren't perfectly uniform. You can almost feel Lubrano's hand guiding the printing process, embracing those imperfections. It reminds me of Sonia Delaunay's textile designs, where she explored the intersection of art and everyday life, blurring the lines between fine art and functional objects. Lubrano's textile invites us to appreciate the beauty of simple, repeated patterns and the subtle variations that make each piece unique. It’s a reminder that art can be found in the most unexpected places, woven into the fabric of our daily lives.
