Gyula Kosice made this untitled work out of plastic and mixed media; the date is unknown. Kosice was an Argentinian artist, born in what is now Slovakia, who became a leading figure in Latin American Concrete Art. This movement sought to purge all representation and expression of feeling, as well as all references to the outside world. Concrete art has clear antecedents in European Modernism, particularly the Bauhaus school, but it took on a different social significance when transplanted to South America. Many artists believed that concrete art could be truly universal; it represented the possibility of transcending regional conflicts and uniting humanity through abstract forms. To better understand this piece, it is helpful to consider its place in the artist's career, and the ways in which the international movement of Concrete Art was inflected by local concerns in Buenos Aires. You could consider how the piece reflects or breaks with conventions in its time. The archives of Latin American art may offer insights into this work.
