Aboudia made La Famille 2 with paint, and probably crayons, in no specific year that we know of. Look at the faces, they are all outlined with a thick black line, or maybe purple in the first figure. There's this wonderful layering happening, the colours, like vibrant scribbles, build up this chaotic yet coherent image. The texture is raw, almost like it’s been scraped on, you can feel the hand of the artist in every mark, and they are not afraid to let the process show! Look at the way the figures are constructed, almost childlike in their simplicity, but also powerful. They are there, in front of you. It reminds me a bit of Basquiat, both in the energy and the rawness, but Aboudia has his own unique voice. Ultimately, it is a window into another way of seeing, thinking, and experiencing the world. And that's what art is all about, right?
