Jimmy Ernst made "Chronicle," using I'm guessing some kind of mixed media, maybe ink and paint, to build up layers of texture and depth. There’s a real emphasis on line, like a drawing gone wild. Looking at this piece, you can almost feel the scratch of the pen or the drag of the brush. The colors are intense but earthy – reds, blues, and browns all tangled up together. Ernst uses these lines to create different planes and layers, almost like looking through multiple windows at once. Notice the red and blue scribbles in the center, they look like raw energy, or maybe a memory trying to break through. It reminds me of Cy Twombly’s scribbled paintings, but with a more structured, architectural feel. Ernst is like an architect of feeling, building a space that’s both chaotic and controlled, and that’s something I always aim for in my own work too.
