Editor: This is Jacques Callot's "Christ Among the Doctors." It's teeming with figures and detail. I am struck by the way the artist uses light to spotlight the figure of Christ. What do you make of it? Curator: It's a brilliant orchestration, isn't it? The etching teems with Baroque drama, but it is Callot’s ability to capture individual expression amidst the crowd that I find so compelling. Look at the gestures—a symphony of curiosity and bewilderment. Almost like a stage play frozen in time. Editor: Yes, the body language is really evocative. I hadn't thought of it as theatrical. Curator: Callot was a master of capturing the human comedy. Seeing the world as a stage, perhaps? It certainly makes me ponder the many roles we all play.
