Rodolfo Arico made this ‘Assonometria blu’, which translates to ‘Blue axonometry’, with paint, but I can't tell you exactly when. The surface is really interesting. It’s sectioned, and each section feels like its own contained world of blue, a color so deep it's almost swallowing light. It makes me think about process, about the way a painting builds itself up slowly, piece by piece, almost like a construction project, the thin gold lines acting as mortar to a series of tiles. The texture is so smooth, which feels almost intentional, as if Arico wanted to hide the process of making, yet at the same time, it is divided into clear segments. I think of Ellsworth Kelly's hard edges and bold colors, but with a sense of depth and geometry, offering a kind of contemplative space to get lost in. It's like looking into a blueprint for a dream.
