This is a print called Très Parisien, made in 1925 by G-P. Joumard, it's essentially a fashion plate, a peek into the flapper styles of the roaring twenties. Look at these colors! The muted gold and greens are so elegant, a restricted palette that lets the graphic quality of the lines really sing. The process here is all about clean, crisp design, each line placed with intention. I find myself drawn to the woman on the right, in the green dress with a peculiar dotty, leafy collar. The dress is a series of simple, almost architectural lines, interrupted by a single, stylized flower. That little flower is like a tiny rebellion against the geometric rigor of the rest of the piece. It's a tiny splash of the organic that makes the whole thing breathe. You could look at Sonia Delaunay who also knew how to bring together elegance and graphic design. Ultimately, this print isn't about perfection, it's about a feeling, a mood, an invitation to imagine yourself in that world.
