Melissa Meyer made "I Got Rhythm" with colorful brushstrokes, like she's letting the painting breathe and shift with each mark. I can almost feel her moving around the canvas, trying different things out, letting error be her guide. I imagine her in conversation with painters like Joan Mitchell – that same feeling of freedom and intuition. It is as if she's thinking, ‘What if I put this splash of red next to that hazy blue?’ The paint looks thin, almost watercolor-like, which gives it a light, airy feel. The rhythm of the brushstrokes makes me think of music, how different notes and beats come together to create a feeling. Painting is like an ongoing exchange; we're all just riffing off each other, inspiring each other to see and feel in new ways. Each brushstroke embodies expression, embracing ambiguity and uncertainty, leaving it open for interpretation.
