Yiannis Moralis made this colored drawing for the poems of George Seferis without any specific date, and the process here seems almost like a dance between representation and abstraction. The shades of grey and black create a somber, reflective mood, almost like looking at a memory fading at the edges. The texture of the drawing is really interesting; you can see the grain of the paper and the way the pigment sits on the surface. Look at the central figure—it's like a ghost, barely there, rendered with a few simple strokes. And then there’s the architectural structure framing the figures, which feels solid, almost oppressive. This drawing reminds me a bit of Giorgio de Chirico, with its haunting atmosphere and classical allusions. But Moralis brings something unique here, a certain lightness amidst the melancholy, that's very much his own.
