Dolfi Trost made this drawing, "Entopic Graphomania", using a pen or marker on paper, and when you look at it, you can feel how the image slowly comes into being, line by line. I can imagine Trost almost in a trance, letting the pen guide him, each line suggesting the next, building up a complex network. Look at how the lines converge and branch out, creating a kind of abstract landscape, or maybe a map of the mind. As a painter myself, I know there’s a joy in just letting the process unfold, trusting your intuition, and seeing where it takes you. Trost seems to be embracing that freedom here, and the result is something really intriguing. The automatic nature of the drawing reminds me of the surrealists, who were always looking for ways to tap into the unconscious. I wonder if Trost was part of that conversation too, exploring the hidden depths of his own imagination through this simple, yet mesmerizing drawing.
