Biography

Dolfi Trost (1916-1966) was a Romanian-American artist known for his abstract and surrealist works. Born in Brăila, Romania, he later emigrated to the United States, where he passed away in Chicago, Illinois. Trost's artwork often features gestural marks, organic shapes, and a sense of depth and movement. His paintings and drawings explore themes of the subconscious, dreams, and the human condition. While his abstract works bear similarities to other artists from the 20th century, he developed a unique style that is both evocative and introspective.
