I like how the photograph isn't perfect. You can see how the sun bleeds through the white material hung behind the subjects; a shadow is cast on the left of the frame. The tonal range of black to gray evokes a melancholy atmosphere. I’m reminded of the black and white photographs of Lisette Model in the way the unposed figures and unrefined printing processes both create an atmosphere of intimacy and familiarity.
