Albrecht Behmel made this painting, Central Park 1, on canvas with paint, though I couldn't tell you exactly when! Look at all those dots, dashes, and rectangles; it’s like a game of visual Tetris! On one side, we've got this riot of colorful dabs, maybe a park in full bloom, and on the other, these orderly golden blocks, like a city grid. The paint has a life of its own here. The colors are opaque and each mark feels deliberate, almost like a mosaic. See how those little strokes of orange, green, and purple create a vibrating texture? It’s not just about depicting a scene, but about the sheer joy of putting paint to canvas. That slim blue line dividing the two sides is so crucial, providing a break and a new plane. This reminds me a little of Mondrian, but with a twist. Where Mondrian is all about precision, Behmel embraces a kind of controlled chaos. It's like two worlds colliding, or maybe just coexisting, each with its own rhythm and energy. Art, after all, is an ongoing conversation!
