This untitled abstraction was made by George Dergalis in 1969, using ink on paper. Look at the way Dergalis makes marks. It's all about the process, right? One line leading to another, building up this intricate web. Up close, you can really see the physicality of the ink. It's not trying to hide anything. The lines are scratchy, uneven, almost like he's letting the pen do its own thing. I love the little clusters of marks at the top, they remind me of trees, but they're also just these little explosions of energy. And then there are these architectural forms, like arches, that seem to be emerging from the chaos. It makes me think of artists like Paul Klee, who was also interested in this kind of playful, improvisational mark-making. Ultimately, this is not about perfection, it's about embracing the messiness of art, and life.
