This image, titled 'Oogsten van tabak' and made by an anonymous artist, captures a scene of tobacco harvesting. I imagine the artist observing this scene, considering the composition, and pressing the shutter. What was going through their mind? Were they thinking about the individuals working in the field, or about the larger landscape? Look at the arrangement of people, how they stand, and the tools that they use. This photograph has a quiet, thoughtful intensity, a stillness that makes me reflect. There is a rich exchange of ideas across time, inspiring creativity, and reflecting on the history of labour and industry. Ambiguity allows for multiple interpretations.
