Pedro Cabrita Reis made this work called Catalogue #1 (Rouge-Crestet), with red paint on wood or some other material. The simplicity of the forms and the direct application of the color is really appealing to me. I love that the artist is playing with basic shapes—circles and rectangles—and arranging them on shelves. It's almost like he's created a visual alphabet or a set of building blocks. The red is so vibrant, it grabs your attention immediately, and the matte finish gives each shape a solid, almost tactile presence. Looking at the way the red interacts with the white wall, I'm reminded of Ellsworth Kelly, especially his exploration of color and form. Yet, here, there’s an added layer of playfulness, like a game of arranging and rearranging, which really highlights that art is not about answers; it's all about the ongoing conversation and the multitude of possibilities.
