Gherasim Luca made this artwork, Transpercer la transparence (6), by layering translucent paper, almost like an unfolding thought. Imagine him at his table, handling these fragile squares, each layer a question, a possibility. What's so fascinating is how the planes of paper create depth, or rather, the illusion of it, shifting and emerging through trial, error, and intuition. I bet Luca was thinking about how something so light, so barely-there, could still cast a shadow, make a mark. The way the planes stack up, it's like a conversation, a visual poem about the push and pull between concealing and revealing. It reminds me of Kurt Schwitters’ collages and the poetry of Tristan Tzara! What do you think these shapes are? Windows? Sails? There's no right answer, of course, because painting at its best is an ongoing dialogue across time, inspiring our creativity to embrace ambiguity.
