Curator: Here we have an untitled work by Stephen Buckley, held in the Tate Collections. Editor: My first impression is that it feels weightless, like colorful wooden blocks gently floating down. Curator: Indeed. The composition consists of four squares in primary colours—red, yellow, black, and blue—arranged on a white ground. Note how Buckley plays with geometric abstraction. Editor: It’s playful but also kind of… melancholic? The colors feel muted, and the squares seem to be drifting apart, not connecting. Curator: Precisely. There’s a tension between the clean lines and the slightly distressed texture of each square. They almost seem eroded. Editor: It makes you wonder what story each block holds, doesn’t it? Like fragments of a forgotten game. Curator: An intriguing perspective. Ultimately, Buckley invites us to contemplate the essence of form and colour. Editor: And perhaps, the quiet beauty of things falling apart.
