Marco Breuer made this 'Untitled (Tip)' piece, but I don’t know when or with what! This piece dives deep into process, with each tiny mark feeling deliberate, like a note in a visual score. The color palette is very subdued, almost monochromatic, which gives it a very meditative quality. Up close, you can see the physicality of the marks, they're not quite scratches, not quite erasures, but something in between. The way they catch the light makes them shimmer. It reminds me of Agnes Martin’s subtle lines. There’s one particular mark, towards the top left, that seems to defy the overall pattern; a little rebellion. Works like these are part of an ongoing conversation in art history, where artists question what an image can be, or how it is made. It's all about embracing the ambiguity and enjoying the journey of seeing.
