This mirror, crafted by Carel Adolph Lion Cachet, features an ebony frame adorned with delicate silver filigree. Notice how the floral motifs and intricate patterns echo ancient symbols of growth and renewal, reminiscent of the Tree of Life found in various cultures. We see these echoes in Minoan Crete, where nature's vitality was celebrated in frescoes, and even in the elaborate tapestries of the Middle Ages. The act of gazing into a mirror taps into the depths of our collective consciousness, a timeless quest for self-understanding. The mirror, a symbol of reflection, becomes a stage where the ego confronts its own image. Like Narcissus at the pool, we are drawn to our own reflection, a dance between vanity and self-discovery. These motifs, passed down through history, reveal a non-linear progression, resurfacing and evolving to carry new meanings across different eras.
