Johannes Jan Schoonhoven made this artwork, T75-44, using pen and ink, sometime around 1975. You know, when you look at this piece, you can almost feel the artist's hand at work, meticulously building up this cross-hatched field, line by line. I can just imagine Schoonhoven, with a sense of determination, and a touch of obsessive focus, slowly filling the page. It’s more than just a drawing; it’s a record of time and patience. It reminds me of Sol LeWitt's wall drawings. Same methodical, process-driven approach, but where LeWitt is all about the system, Schoonhoven feels more… human. The slight variations, the little imperfections – that’s where the life is. These tiny shifts and nuances across the surface give a sense of movement and breath and depth. It shows that art isn’t just about an idea but about a process. It’s about doing. Each artist learns from one another by taking different paths.
