Foto Goiorani made these three photographs of Maria Ruini and her husband strolling in Viareggio. The way the images are cropped and combined suggests a playful, improvisational process, a bit like sketching in real life. The black and white tones are like a delicate wash, each frame capturing a fleeting moment. Look at how the light catches the edges of their clothing, almost dissolving them into the background. There's a texture to the prints, a slight graininess, that reminds me of early film. It gives the images a tactile quality, like holding a piece of history in your hands. The contrast between the dark shadows of the trees and the bright, sunlit path creates a sense of depth and movement. It's as if the artist is inviting us to step into their world, to join them on their leisurely walk. The sequencing of the images reminds me of some of Gerhard Richter’s photo paintings in the way they explore the passage of time, and the possibilities of seriality. It embraces the idea that art is always an ongoing conversation, an exploration of different perspectives and possibilities.
