This is a photograph of the Hervormde Kerk in Sleen, taken by someone working at Monumentenzorg. Looking at it, I'm reminded of those old architectural drawings, you know? The kind where every brick is lovingly rendered. I wonder what the photographer was thinking, setting up their shot? Did they labour over the details, thinking about light and shadow and texture, making sure to get every little bit just right? You can see the texture of each individual brick. The windows look so inviting; I almost feel like I could step right through the photograph and find myself in a quiet pew, bathed in the soft light filtering through the stained glass. Artists are always looking and learning from each other and I wonder what this artist learned. I think they wanted us to feel grounded. There's something so peaceful about this image. Maybe it's the soft, muted tones, or the way the light gently illuminates the building. Whatever it is, I find myself drawn in, wanting to linger a little longer and soak it all in.
