This is "Nature as a Partner" by Constantin Flondor, and right away I am struck by its light touch. It's a collaboration, it seems, between what's found and what's made. Look at how the sphere, floating there in the sky, is formed from these delicate, geometric lines. It’s like a drawing in space, this red, spherical form. The lines don't obscure the world behind it, instead, they offer a new lens through which to see the landscape. The ground below is all soft yellows and greens of a meadow. There’s a real push and pull between the open field and geometric ball which gives a sense of process, of Flondor trying to figure out how shapes and colors and marks work together, and how we see them. Flondor reminds me of artists like Agnes Denes, who also works with geometry in nature, using math and system as a way to collaborate with the earth. It's a very generous and beautiful way to work.
