This bracelet was crafted in silver by a Navajo artist sometime in the past. Looking at this object I feel the labor and care, the bending and shaping. I am thinking about the kind of tools that were used. That central motif of the silver bar is fascinating; it sits against the smooth curves like an anchor. There is the repetition of shapes, it is bold and solid and it seems to want to say something. When I look at art, I look for the structure, the form, and the choices that have been made. I wonder what other forms the artist has worked with? This bracelet sits in a rich tradition of design and making, of passing on skill. And it speaks across time. We are all connected.
