This silver bracelet was created by a Navajo artist; its exact date of origin remains a mystery. The bracelet is made out of metal. What strikes me is the texture, smooth and aged, cool to the touch. The subtle details! Look at the way the artist has made these tiny impressions on the metal to form these zig-zag patterns and rows of dots. It's so skillful! It really speaks to the maker's dedication and patience. Each mark looks intentional and precise, but also handmade, and I think you can see the artist's hand and spirit in it. Thinking about this piece, it reminds me of the work of Eva Hesse, who used repetitive gestures and simple materials to create forms that are both minimal and expressive. It's a real conversation across art, across time, don't you think?
