Copyright: ARTERA: FROM ARTIST
王新福 made 叶脉雅黄 with a riot of yellows, greens and browns that seems to burst from the canvas in strokes of thick paint. Looking at this, I think of the way the artist has built up the surface, layer upon layer, like some kind of botanical frenzy – it's a dance of color and texture. I imagine Wang Xin-Fu standing there, wrestling with the paint, pushing and pulling, maybe lost in the sheer physicality of it all. Each stroke is a decision, a feeling, a reaction to what’s already there. There's a real energy in these gestures, as though the artist is trying to capture something fleeting, something alive. A kind of dialogue emerges between the artist, the painting, and all the painters, past and present, who've ever felt the urge to smear color across a surface. Ultimately, it's about embracing ambiguity and uncertainty, and finding meaning in the process itself.
