This collection of photographs entitled, *Vijf gezichten op Jaffa, Israël,* presents five views of Jaffa, offering glimpses into its port, coastline, and townscape. The photos capture Jaffa, a city with deep historical roots and cultural significance in the late 19th century, and highlight the intersection of trade, tourism, and colonial interests that shaped the region. From different vantage points these images tell a story about land, labor and identity. They also raise questions about whose perspectives were included, and whose were left out in the representation of this complex and contested space. They illustrate the emotional connection people have to their homeland. How do these images contribute to our understanding of identity, place, and representation in the context of the historical and political landscape of Jaffa?
