This Keith Haring is a riot of flat colour and thick black lines, all done with paint, I imagine, quickly and decisively. Haring wasn’t precious, he was making art for everyone, everywhere. I imagine him, brush in hand, maybe spray can, moving fast, almost dancing, as he lays down those bold colours – yellow, blue, red, green – and then snaps those figures into place with a confident outline. The paint is thin, like he's laying down the first, urgent thought. It feels immediate, like a burst of energy fixed on the surface. Haring loved art that was accessible. And this piece, with its dancing figures and bright colours, it’s like a party, a celebration of life and movement. You can almost hear the music and feel the street vibes. He was in conversation with the world around him, taking what he saw and felt and turning it into something universal and joyful.
