Curator: This image, taken by Colin Murray, presents the entrance to the Kailasa Temple at Ellora, a place often considered a paradise. Editor: Paradise looks like a formidable fortress, doesn’t it? The entrance looms like a dark mouth, promising mystery, maybe a little menace. Curator: The Ellora caves are a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Murray captured the scale and the incredible carving. The figures lining the walls…they’re a language, aren't they? Editor: Indeed! The recurring motifs speak of cyclical time, deities both benevolent and fierce, and the enduring power of belief etched in stone. I see echoes of ancient myths, where gods and mortals intertwine. Curator: It certainly makes me think about how we continue to build sacred spaces. Editor: Right. Murray’s image shows how humanity can transform rock into a symbolic landscape. It’s like looking at a dream chiseled into reality, isn't it?
