Editor: So, this is "Cabernet" by Terri Kelly Moyers, painted in 2015. It's oil on… something (laughs) – probably canvas or board, right? Anyway, it feels super warm and almost nostalgic, like looking at a forgotten photograph. All those grapes! What do you see in this piece that I might be missing? Curator: Ah, "Cabernet"! Yes, Terri's work always brings me a particular joy. For me, it's the dance between the realistic depiction of the grapes and leaves and the almost abstract way she's applied the paint, the lovely impasto. She’s capturing a memory more than a precise botanical study, wouldn't you agree? It makes me think of the way a vineyard smells at the end of summer, earthy and sweet all at once. Do you pick up on that tension between the real and the remembered? Editor: Definitely, now that you point it out! It’s like the fuzzy edges are softening the reality of it. It reminds me of memories of my grandmother's garden. Curator: Exactly! Art’s like that, isn't it? It’s a mirror reflecting our own experiences back at us. And the way she focuses so closely on the grapes, almost cropping them… it feels intimate, like a stolen moment. What does that intimacy evoke for you? Editor: I guess it's like she’s inviting us into her own personal vineyard, a private, delicious space. I love that. Thanks, that really shifted my perspective on it. Curator: My pleasure. Every artwork holds countless stories, and the fun is finding which one resonates with you. It's a constant discovery, for both of us!
