Alfred Freddy Krupa made this drawing called "The peak of the Klek Mnt" with ink on paper. The stark contrast gets straight to the point, doesn’t it? It's like a zen koan in visual form. Look how the ink bleeds and feathers out at the edges, especially on the right-hand side – you can almost feel the brush dancing across the paper. There's a real sense of immediacy, a directness in the gesture. I’m interested in that dance between control and chance that’s always present when you make art, and you can really see it here. It reminds me a bit of Brice Marden's calligraphic drawings, where the line becomes almost like a map of the artist's movements. But here, instead of a person, it’s a mountain. Maybe art is always just one big, long conversation, across time, across places. And the best art is when you can hear those echoes, and still feel something new.
