Jessica Stockholder made this installation, *Sweet for Three Oranges*, using everyday materials to construct something that dances between painting and sculpture. It’s all about the process, seeing how things interact, how colours sing or clash. There’s such a fantastic material conversation happening, with those vibrant oranges suspended in a wire basket, juxtaposed against the rough textures of brick and the flat planes of painted color. And look at how she’s cut into the wall, revealing the wooden frame, it’s like she’s inviting us to peel back the layers of perception, questioning what is solid and what is illusion. I’m struck by how the metal rods jut out, piercing the space, creating this tension. Stockholder’s work reminds me of Kurt Schwitters and his Merzbau, a constant accumulation and re-arrangement of found objects and materials. Art is not about answers but about embracing the questions.
