Here's Miró's Femme, étoile, with its whimsical shapes and figures floating in a milky way of gray wash. I imagine Miró at work, maybe in his studio on Majorca, conjuring this world with charcoal and gouache. It's fun to think about what it would have been like to conjure these creatures, pulling them out of thin air, so playful and free. Look at that zig-zag line connecting one of the characters to a floating black orb—is it a thought, a song, a vibration? And see how Miró layers color so subtly, just a touch of green on one figure, a blush of pink on another. Miró's work reminds us that painting is an ongoing conversation, constantly evolving and inspiring. It is this ongoing conversation that we all take part in. Painting is a form of embodied expression that embraces uncertainty, allowing for endless interpretations.
