This collection of gelatin silver prints, by an anonymous photographer, is like a visual diary. It's got this warm sepia tone that makes you think of old photographs. I imagine the photographer, with their heavy camera, carefully composing each shot. Maybe they were trying to capture something fleeting, or maybe they were just documenting their everyday life. Like the shot of the tennis court, the horizon line intersects the tennis net: was it deliberate? You can almost feel the sea breeze. And the way the figures are posed, there’s a real sense of intimacy. It’s like they were inviting the viewer into their world, sharing a glimpse of their lives. And this is what all artists are trying to do, inviting us into a world of their making. Maybe that is what art is, at its heart? A conversation. An invitation.
