Roy Lichtenstein made 'Leda and the Swan' without a date using screenprint and lithograph on Rives BFK paper. It's a fascinating take on the classical myth, filtered through Lichtenstein's signature Pop Art style. I can only imagine him working on this, wrestling with these big themes of desire and transformation. It is interesting how he reduces complex forms into graphic elements: bold outlines, flat colors, and of course, those Ben-Day dots! I imagine he carefully considered each shape and color to capture movement and emotion. He even gives a nod to earlier painters in his composition. It's like he’s saying, 'Hey, we're all in this together!' Artists borrowing, remixing, and responding across time, inspiring new visions and ideas. For me, this piece is like an open question. It’s not just about the myth, but also about how we see, interpret, and keep the conversation going.
