Michael Lauretano made this Fragment of Wall Decoration, and it looks like he was really into the process of artmaking. The way he's dabbed and swiped those pinks, grays, and creams makes you feel like you're seeing the wall itself. I love how the colors here are so muted and the texture feels almost like skin. It’s got this raw, unfinished quality. See those dark, swirling lines in the lower panel? They seem to dance on the surface. It’s like Lauretano was trying to capture movement, maybe the movement of his own hand as he was painting. It kind of reminds me of Cy Twombly, in the way he let the process become the subject. Ultimately, this piece shows us that art isn't always about the finished product. It's about the journey, the exploration, and the conversation between the artist and the material.
