Francis Naranjo’s installation piece, Tráfico, utilizes space and light in a way that really messes with your perceptions. The red light that floods everything isn’t just a color choice; it's a whole mood, a vibe, a feeling. It's like Naranjo's inviting us into a space that's both familiar, like a public restroom, but also totally alien and theatrical. The sinks, bathed in this intense red, become almost abstract forms, losing their everyday functionality and taking on a different kind of resonance. There's something really powerful about how Naranjo uses light to transform these mundane objects into something evocative. It reminds me of some of Bruce Nauman’s installations where he’d use neon light to create these unsettling, almost dreamlike environments. Ultimately, it's all about playing with how we see, how we feel, and how we experience the world around us.
