Hito Steyerl invites us to consider power and design in "The Tower," a space created for contemplation and viewing. I'm struck by the color: that insistent, enveloping red. It's not just a color; it's a statement, an environment. Red can be the color of warning, of anger, but also of passion. The space between the screens and the wall and the chairs creates this feeling of being watched, or listened to. There is this feeling that we can think and feel but in a controlled environment. It's as if we're invited to sit, to observe, but under specific conditions. There is this feeling of control that can be both inviting and unnerving. Steyerl is prompting us to think about how spaces shape our perceptions, how architecture can be a form of control, and how art can reveal these hidden dynamics.
